Belong’s Food Cooperative based in Acacia Ridge provides a daily portal into the lives of Southside residents living on the edge.

It is now commonplace to see people queuing outside the Co-operative as early 7am for a service that opens its doors at 9.

This is because demand is now such that the Co-operative is stripped bare within an hour of opening its doors. Regulars now know that their daily sustenance depends on their place in the queue; that a late arrival means the risk of walking away empty handed, with difficult decisions to follow.

Belong believes that access to food is a right shared by all in our community.
