Carrot Juice and Ice Cream!
It’s a curious sounding combination.
But a match made in heaven according to World Village Market coordinator, Parvaneh (“Pari”) Madhidi.
As someone who hails from the birthplace of ice cream, Pari should know.
For millennia now, the people of Iran have been making this delicious dessert thanks to an ingenious feat of structural engineering known as yakhchal. These ancient evaporative coolers enabled ice retrieved during the winter to be preserved during the long, hot desert summers. The creation of ice cream made from milk, eggs, sugar, rose water, saffron, vanilla, and pistachios soon followed.
But the addition of carrot juice?
“It’s delicious! You should try it,” Pari told a skeptical looking reporter from The Belong Times last evening.
Known as Ab-Haveej Bastani, this Persian Carrot Juice and Saffron Ice Cream Float is a more modern twist on the ancient, frozen dessert, and will be available at the World Village Market for the very first time tomorrow.
“Everyone should try this one!,” Pari said.
This is just one of several new additions to the lineup of stallholders at tomorrow’s market event.
Belong invites everyone for a delightful day, soaking up the sights, sounds, smells, and flavours of the world, all in the one place at The Social Space tomorrow!
